In second grade, that was when my love for reading hit a home run. Near-sighted and having blurred vision, I need prescriptive glasses at a young age.
I wore my first pair of contact lens sometime during my first year in college. It was a bad experience, my eyes got infected (and I swear I do clean the contacts thoroughly) and had I put eyedrops, my opthalmologist said I could have become blind. Yikes.
So okay, he told me to not wear contacts for a few months, and I did. He gave me a thumbs up after a while, and I tried them again — a different brand this time. It was all right at first, and then it happened again. So I am now officially banned from wearing contacts, with the exception of special events. I still wear glasses whenever there is a party, because if I wore contacts, I would need the cleaning solution, which doesn’t come in small bottles. It would be a waste to buy a big one and let it expire.
Here I am, wearing glasses, practically blind if I am caught without them. And I must say, sometimes it could be a nuisance.
On a very sunny day, I could be wearing sunglasses, but of course I can’t. When I get the impulse to dive into the pool, I can’t because I should take my glasses off first. The intimidating impression I give people is amplified because I’m wearing my glasses.
Well, I have to live with them. At least I look smart. (I am proud to say that I am smart, if I must say so myself. Haha)
